What is Lemon Oil?
Lemon has a clean, fresh citrus scent. We source it from Italy and Brazil, both of which offer ideal growing conditions for producing this bright, tangy essential oil.
Lemon essential oil is cold-pressed from fruit rinds. A single lemon tree produces between 500 and 600 lemons a year on average, yielding approximately seven ounces of essential oil annually.

A Bit of Science
Lemon, scientifically called Citrus limon, is a flowering plant that belongs to the Rutaceae family. Lemon plants are grown in many countries all over the world, although they are native to Asia and believed to have been brought to Europe around 200 A.D. DoTerra's Lemon oil is sourced from Brazil and Italy.
In America, English sailors used lemons while on the sea to protect themselves from scurvy and conditions caused by bacterial infections.
The peel is actually the most nutrient-dense portion of the lemon because of its fat-soluble phytonutrients.
Research indicates that lemon essential oil is composed of many natural compounds, including:
terpenes, sesquiterpenes, aldehydes, alcohols, esters, and sterols.

Tips to Use...
Add lemon essential oil to a spray bottle with water to clean tables, countertops, and other surfaces.
Combine a few drops of lemon essential oil with olive oil to clean, protect, and shine wood finishes. (with 8 oz of olive oil, add 20 drops of lemon oil. Shake a bit. Spray on cloth. Wipe on wood. Rub in and let it soak in the wood.)
Soak a cloth and wipe down your leather furniture and garments for increased preservation and protection.
Use to remove early stages of tarnish on silver and other metals.
